Clare A. Hatter
Clare A. Hatter's musical journey began at 18 months old in Owens Valley, where she was raised by her parents, Mark Hatter and Laura Olinger, both public school music educators. At 15, Clare seized the opportunity to study under Scott Hosfeld and Maria Newman in Malibu, CA.
Since then, Clare has performed with various orchestras, including the Eastern Sierra Summer Symphony Orchestra, Sierra Summer Festival Orchestra, Desert Community Orchestra, Ridgecrest Chamber Orchestra, Westwood Chamber Symphony, Malibu Coast Chamber Orchestra, CSUN Symphony, and the American Youth Symphony. As a founding member of the Malibu Coast Honor String Quartet Scholarship, she held the first violin position.
Continuing her musical odyssey, Clare pursued her education at California State University Northridge, studying under the tutelage of Prof. Lorenz Gamma for violin and Prof. Robert Berg for viola from 2017 to 2020. Throughout her academic journey, Clare's commitment to excellence was recognized with accolades such as the title of Outstanding Sophomore for the academic year of 2017-2018 and the receipt of prestigious scholarships, including the Manuel Compinsky Memorial Scholarship, David and Krystyna Newman Violin Scholarship, and Kenneth Ullis Memorial Scholarship. In her junior year, Clare was honored with induction into the esteemed Pi Kappa Lambda Honor Society. Clare's musical journey at CSUN culminated in December 2020 when she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music in violin and viola performance.
Clare recently graduated with her masters in violin performance from San Diego State University’s School of Music and Dance. She held the position of concertmaster of both the symphony orchestra and chamber orchestra during her time at SDSU. In May 2024, she graduated and was recognized as the Outstanding Graduate of the College of Professional Studies & Fine Arts. She is now working towards an Artist Diploma at SDSU in violin performance and conducting.
In January 2024, Clare embarked on a new chapter in her musical career, co-founding the Amicita Chamber Orchestra with Samuel Jimenez-Romero. Their shared vision, grounded in camaraderie and a profound passion for music, drives their endeavor forward.
